Log Number: IGSM-257644-OMS-25
Under the direction of the Pendleton District Commission, the Bart Garrison Agricultural Museum of South Carolina and the Archives at Hunter’s Store will digitize over 30,000 photographs and 1,000 historical documents to enhance public access. These resources include the Horace G. Williams Collection with over 30,000 negatives and documents showcasing the daily lives and agricultural practices of South Carolinians throughout the 20th century; the Ruth Boggs Collection, a collection of early 19th-century records that shed light on the social and educational history of the region; and Industry Records, documents from significant industries, including textiles and railroads, which were critical to the economic development of the tri-county area. These archives will help visitors understand the local heritage of the region and explore broader themes in American history, such as industrialization and the transformation of rural communities.
