Log Number: IGSM-259423-OMS-26

The Museum of North Idaho will improve the documentation and preservation of its historic Fort Sherman collection. Fort Sherman, a 19th century United States Army post, played a key role in the early development of Coeur d’Alene and North Idaho. Museum staff will engage a curatorial contractor to catalog, digitize, and research approximately 232 historical photographs, 143 archival documents and letters, and 72 artifacts associated with the military post and its personnel. The project will result in enhanced preservation and public access to Fort Sherman materials and broaden the understanding of the historic site. Researchers, educators, and museum visitors seeking information about the history of Fort Sherman and the development of North Idaho will all benefit from the project.
