Edward Hopper House Museum

The Edward Hopper House Museum will contract the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts in Philadelphia, PA, to treat, conserve, and rehouse nine watercolors by Josephine (“Jo”) Nivison Hopper (1883–1968), the artist and wife of the iconic realist painter Edward Hopper (1882–1967). These significant works represent the second largest holding of Josephine Hopper’s work behind the Whitney Museum of American Art. Following treatment, the watercolors will be available for use in exhibitions, programming, and interpretation, and for researchers studying her life and work. The primary beneficiaries of this project will be the 8,000 annual visitors to the museum, as well as scholars, curators, and students studying the Hoppers’ careers.
