Westmoreland County Historical Society

Log Number: IGSM-260076-OMS-26

The Westmoreland County Historical Society will improve the care, management, and accessibility of its archaeological collection from the Revolutionary-era Hanna’s Town site in western Pennsylvania. In partnership with Indiana University of Pennsylvania, museum staff will inventory, organize, catalog, and rehouse the collection. The project will support staffing, the purchase of archival supplies, and training for graduate and undergraduate students in hands-on collections management. The resulting catalog and finding aids will support scholarship on colonial settlement, westward British expansion, and early American material culture while strengthening professional training and advancing stewardship of the collection. The project will expand opportunities for public interpretation and educational programming, benefiting students, historians, educators, and the public.
