Funk Heritage Center
Log Number: IGSM-260124-OMS-26
The Funk Heritage Center at Reinhardt University will install museum-grade vertical art storage racks and modular shelving sufficient to safely rehouse approximately 170 framed works and strengthen their environmental monitoring protocols. Project activities will include conducting a planning and baseline assessment of the current storage configuration and environment, acquiring and installing the art storage racks, rehousing selected artworks, updating the location records, and documenting their new storage and environmental monitoring protocols for incorporation into their routine collections management procedures. The project will involve training student interns on proper handling procedures to assist with rehousing half of the framed portion of the collection. Project outcomes include a reduction in object density and overcrowded shelving, increased airflow within the storage space, stabilized humidity levels, reduced risk of mold and humidity-related damage, and improved efficiency in object retrieval.
