National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature

The National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature (NCCIL) will modernize museum infrastructure and enhance collections stewardship by moving from a spreadsheet-based registration system to a professional collections management system. Project activities will include conducting a comprehensive space assessment and improvement plan, upgrading their technological infrastructure, and obtaining appropriate shelving and conservation-grade storage materials to rehouse the collection. The project will involve hiring two consultants to conduct the preservation assessments. Upon completion of the project, NCCIL will improve both intellectual and physical control over their collections and allow staff to pursue their long term goals of digitization and expanded online access.
