Thomas Cole National Historic Site

The Thomas Cole Historic House will present Picturing a Classic Land: Thomas Cole and Sicily, an exhibition examining classical subjects in the iconic works of Thomas Cole. The project will include the exhibition, a scholarly print publication, and public and school programming. Project activities include exhibition design and installation, research for the exhibition and publication, dissemination of scholarship on Thomas Cole through libraries and museums, and evaluation of the exhibition through visitor feedback. Beneficiaries include visitors to the historic house, local school groups, members of the historic house community, and the broader field of American art history. The expected outcome is an increased number of visitors engaging in cultural experiential learning opportunities related to Thomas Cole.
