Mount Vernon Hotel Museum and Garden
Log Number: IGSM-260233-OMS-26
The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum and Garden will provide workshops exploring the museum’s connections to the nation’s founders and the building’s classical architecture. The workshops will engage K–12 educators in providing feedback on student activities for field trips and identifying themes for curriculum development to supplement the existing school tour curriculum, with a focus on New York City public school social studies requirements. The museum will provide educator resource kits, including pre- and post-visit materials and lesson plans. An additional workshop will engage blind and low-vision visitors to identify opportunities for targeted thematic tours designed for these audiences. Primary beneficiaries are K–12 educators and students, as well as blind and low-vision visitors. Project outcomes include expanded tour options for K–12 students and increased accessibility to the museum and its educational resources.
