Birdcraft Museum and Sanctuary

Log Number: IGSM-260291-OMS-26

The Connecticut Audubon Society will support the development of experiential learning and discovery at their Birdcraft Museum and Sanctuary by creating and installing hands-on multi-media kiosk exhibits focused on the birds of Connecticut. This project will focus on building “The Living Layer,” which will add the visual dimensions of movement and color to the auditory experience already available at the museum. Project activities include fabricating and installing 14 custom-built, highly adaptable video stations with touchscreen tablets near taxidermy birds showing images and a 30–90 second video of a living bird in its habitat in Connecticut. Project activities include the field production of video clips, kiosk fabrication, installing and testing the kiosks, public launch, project evaluation, and reporting. The primary beneficiaries for this project are the approximately 2,000 annual visitors to the Birdcraft Museum who visit the central Birds of Connecticut gallery and will interact with the proposed exhibit.
