Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia

Log Number: IGSM-260738-OMS-26

Following the recommendations of a 2023 Museum Assessment Program (MAP) report, the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia will improve the preservation and management of its permanent pottery collection by reorganizing collections storage and stabilizing environmental conditions. Project activities include the purchase and installation of new shelving, a dehumidifier, and environmental monitoring equipment. Museum staff and a project intern will also rehouse approximately 100 pottery objects and complete catalog documentation and photography for 50 objects that have not yet been fully documented. These improvements will strengthen the museum’s ability to preserve and interpret an important collection of Northeast Georgia folk pottery while expanding access for exhibitions, research, and future digital initiatives.
