Walk to Art: Artists in Community Partnerships is an after-school project developed by the Armory Center for the Arts and six community organizations--Jackie Robinson Center, Santa Catalina Library, La Pintoresca Library, James Madison School, Frances E. Willard School and Marshall Fundamental Secondary School. The project will place experienced and trained artists from the Armory faculty in residence for two years at the partnering sites, which serve children and families in low-income neighborhoods of Pasadena. The project is designed to move artists beyond the role of a “visiting artist” to become agents for community development by changing the local perception of the place of the arts in education, recreation, business and family life. *Awarded under Museum Leadership Initiatives program - now part of National Leadership Grants for Museums
