Tennessee Aquarium

The Tennessee Aquarium will enhance its current partnership with the Normal Park Elementary Museum Magnet School and the Chattanooga Middle Museum Magnet School. This project will enable the Aquarium with its six other Chattanooga museum partners--Creative Discovery Museum, Chattanooga Regional History Museum, Chattanooga Nature Center, Chattanooga African American Museum, Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, and the Hunter Museum of American Art--to enhance education opportunities for the children and their families. This grant will support an enhanced initiative to take advantage of all the partners' resources by increasing teachers' capacity to integrate museums' resources into the curriculum, increase parents' capacity to use museum resources for and with their children, and increase museum staff understanding of the curricular connections of their collections. The goal is to enable parents and teachers to better understand how the museums can help in the educational advancement of their children.
