The Alabama Public Library Service will use funds to support the goals of their Five-Year Plan for FY 2013-2017, which reflect the purposes and priorities of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). In Alabama, specific goals address 1) Placing the learner at the center and supporting engaging experiences in libraries that prepare people to be full participants in their local communities and our global society; 2) Promoting public libraries as strong community anchors that partner with other community organizations to enhance the involvement of children, youth, adults and families and enhance civic engagement, cultural opportunities, and economic vitality; and 3) Supporting access to information, knowledge, ideas and cultural heritage through the provision of library materials in all formats and through the provision of up-to-date technology.
