The Arkansas State Library will use funds to support the goals of their Five-Year Plan for FY 2013-2017, which reflect the purposes and priorities of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). In Arkansas, specific goals address 1) Providing leadership and services to libraries, constituents, and stakeholders through improved communication, outreach, collaboration and partnership efforts, within and beyond the library community; 2) Enhancing access to information for lifelong learning for all Arkansans by expanding information resources of all types through enhancing, strengthening, sharing, digitizing and preserving; 3) Providing training and professional development, including continuing education, to enhance the skills of the current library workforce, promote leadership, and advance the delivery of library and information services; 4) Striving to enrich the lives of Arkansans through programs and services that address the needs of targeted audiences with difficulties using a library; and 5) Enhancing the technological environment of Arkansas libraries by providing IT consultation services and facilitating opportunities for the testing/implementation of new and emerging technologies.
