The Republic of Palau will establish library centers and offer training in three remote villages, provide professional development for library staff, and maintain a catalog license. One project component will bring library resources to underserved communities in Ngiwal, Ngchesar, and Ngatpang, including week-long training sessions based on local needs, such as workforce development and basic computing. These sessions for adults will be accompanied by literacy-related activities for their children. A second project component will support renewed licensing for the sites connected to the Palau Union Catalog. Grant funds will also support staff participation in the Pacific Islands Association of Libraries, Archives, and Museums (PIALA) conference, which is an opportunity to share project outcomes with neighboring islands.
