The Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services will use funds under the American Rescue Plan Act to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus; to expand digital network access, purchase internet accessible devices, and provide technical support services. They will continue to support the goals of their Five-Year Plan for FY 2018-2022. In Rhode Island, specific goals address 1) providing access to library materials and information resources through physical and virtual spaces; 2) supporting the continuing education of librarians, library staff and trustees and the development of statewide programming for libraries; and 3) empowering libraries to be incubators for economic, educational and cultural development and community discourse.
