Woodrow Wilson House Museum (NTHP)

Log Number: MA-01-04-0033-04

Purpose: Sustaining Cultural Heritage The Woodrow Wilson House will employ a historian for fiscal years 2005 and 2006 to plan, research, and execute activities surrounding the 150th anniversary of Woodrow Wilson's birth in 1856. The historian will conduct research for upcoming exhibitions through 2006, especially for the 150th anniversary events celebrating Wilson's birth and emphasizing his role as a leader, world statesman, and peacemaker. The historian will develop and assist in the implementation of new professionalization standards for the guide staff and will develop curriculum and training projects to be used on site and distributed to teachers and students. He will also select, annotate, and caption newly digitized images from the museum's collection for inclusion in an interactive timeline on the museum's new Web site. In addition, the historian will answer requests for information on the Web site or in writing from schoolchildren and other scholars. He will also research the possibility of making digital audio and visual images available onsite as well as online to integrate into the tour significant objects from the collection and from other sources that are currently not displayed. For example, clips from Wilson's speeches could be played during the tour, so visitors could hear Wilson's voice while they are in his home.
