Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning This project will develop core educational programs at Peralta Hacienda Historical Park in a coordinated education program for the museum's broad, diverse target audience that will support new exhibits and the outdoor interpretive environment currently being built with National Endowment for the Humanities and California Heritage Fund grants. The program will include the CHAC (Community, History, Arts, and Culture) youth program, docent training, school field trips, public events, and tours. Community members will partner in this creative process and its evaluation, and will be integral to the later implementation phase. The process will set up channels of permanent stewardship. Marketing and outreach activities are another major component of the project. Project activities support the museum's strategic goals of illuminating site history for a broad general audience and meeting the educational and cultural needs of local at-risk youth and their families; preparing the organization to serve both constituencies in a complementary dynamic for years to come; and ensuring the appropriate fiscal and organizational structures to operate this major civic resource.
