The Massachusetts Historical Society (MHS) will upgrade existing physical security throughout its facility with its “Collections Surveillance Project.” The project is focused on critical video surveillance management throughout both internal and external areas of the facility and integrating them into a secure internet protocol network, presently under development. This project will help fulfill part of the society’s long-range preservation plan: preserve and ensure the security of the collections. The project will help MHS protect its collections—an assemblage of personal papers from three presidents, as well as accounts of the lives of thousands of ordinary Americans—while expanding its capacity to display them in exhibitions and in conjunction with public programs.
