The San Francisco Botanical Garden will create a concept plan for the development and expansion of the existing Children's Garden and Nature Trail into a new "Nature Discovery Zone." The garden will work with the city's recreation and parks department and a design consultant to coordinate community-focused planning activities to gather and compile community input and external research. Staff members will travel to botanical gardens, municipal parks, and other sites to learn how landscapes designed for children support their communities. The final concept plan will include property boundaries; landscaping and outdoor learning and play elements; outdoor classrooms and gathering spaces; specific garden spaces; site improvements such as way finding, fencing, hose bib locations, and site storage areas.
