Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens

Log Number: MA-246062-OMS-20

The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens will develop and implement the Relevance, Access, and Diversity (RAD) Docents project to build the institution's capacity to deliver a sustainable and consistent system of recruiting and training docents that reflects the needs of diverse audiences. The project team will conduct self-study research to benchmark The Huntington's current docent training programs against peer institutions, collaborate with external thought leaders to develop an actionable plan for docent training, and pilot and refine a new docent training format. This project will directly address The Huntington's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan goals for volunteer training and visitor experience, as well as the institution's mission to promote education in the arts, humanities, and botanical sciences. "RAD Docents" will build stronger connections between The Huntington's audiences and its collections through meaningful interactions with volunteers.
