Historic New England

Log Number: MA-253242-OMS-23

Historic New England will digitize a collection of 125,000 glass plate and film negatives to create online access to images of New England architecture, urban development, shorelines, and landscapes from the 1880s to the present day. The museum will hire two full-time project staff: a photographer to capture the images digitally, and an archivist to record metadata and create an online finding aid. Staff will train volunteers as well as a paid graduate student on best practices for processing uncatalogued collections. As a result of the project, staff will make images of the collection fully available online through the organization’s online content management system.
