Log Number: MA-258402-OMS-25

The North Carolina Railway Museum will create a new indoor exhibit space designed for families and school groups that goes beyond railroad history to explore the deep connection of railroads to innovations and advancements in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The new exhibit will include interactive presentations that are of interest to all ages and will focus on four pieces of rare, heritage railroad equipment—3 locomotives and an ice-refrigerated box car. Visitors will see the connection between this hundred-year-old technology and the technology powering modern automobiles, be able to touch full-size components, and learn facts about machines and technology that translate to thousands of everyday items. This fully accessible, Universally Designed interactive and self-directed exhibit will have learning activities for everyone.
