Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum and Art Gallery

The Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum and Art Gallery at Pennsylvania State University will improve the stewardship of its technology and geology collections by upgrading storage and environmental conditions. The museum will purchase new cabinets and drawers for its technology collections that will provide stable, pest-resistant, secure storage. Project activities will also include the inventory and assessment of over 21,000 geology specimens, involving identification, condition documentation, and the development of a plan for future rehousing and access. The museum staff will lead the three-year project with the assistance of paid interns and curatorial assistants. The project will improve the long-term preservation and use of these collections for exhibits and research and support educational programming for the museum’s audiences.
