Icon Museum and Study Center

Log Number: MA-259656-OMS-26

The Icon Museum and Study Center will design and install an exhibition that brings together icons from diverse collections throughout North America, presenting objects from 1450-1700 CE. Project activities will include coordination with several museums across the United States to obtain objects for the exhibition, conducting condition reports of icons being requested for loan and preparing logistics for their transportation, design, layout, and installation of the exhibition and interpretive materials, development of the exhibition catalogue, and development of a marketing plan. The project will involve hosting a series of lectures given by scholars throughout the U.S. to contribute to the exhibition’s academic impact. The outcome of project activities will be a new exhibition for audiences from various backgrounds that will broaden their understanding of world history, culture, religion, and politics through the vibrant artistic traditions of Eastern Christianity.
