Duke Lemur Center

Log Number: MA-259712-OMS-26

The Duke Lemur Center of Duke University will consolidate decades of their research from several natural history collections and make them accessible online to research-users, students, and educators through an online collections management system and their educator network. Project activities will include developing the new database and incorporating datasets from the museum, historical colony, and biobank to develop specimen data fields; producing a guide that describes the data expected for each field; and inventorying each uploaded collection to ensure a complete record for each specimen. The Center will convene a series of virtual educator workshops to demonstrate how the database is organized and how data can be explored, so that the project team can develop curriculum guides for middle and high school students. The outcome of project activities will be interconnected research datasets that are accessible to researchers and educators outside of the Center.
