Southeast Ohio History Center

The Athens County Historical Society will partner with seven arts and cultural organizations in Athens County, Ohio, to develop a comprehensive field trip program and curriculum that will align with Ohio’s learning standards and serve students from kindergarten through sixth grade. Project activities will include engaging with partners to co-develop the curriculum, meeting with teachers and school administrators to obtain feedback on and refine the new educational materials, and launching and evaluating the pilot field trip program in two school districts. Project outcomes will be a combined curricula packet that incorporates content from all project partners in alignment with state learning standards, serves as a helpful resource for educators, and gives students from all over Athens County shared experiences to enhance their pride of place, and appreciation of local history.
