Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza will research, catalog, and digitize a recently acquired collection of photographs documenting historical moments in the city of Dallas between 1960 and 1978. Donated by Bob Jackson, a longtime photographer for the Dallas Times Herald, the collection includes the Pulitzer Prize–winning photograph of the murder of alleged presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby. To implement the two-year project, the museum will hire two full-time specialists in cataloging and digitization and will purchase equipment and supplies to support their work. Project staff will complete a collection inventory, digitization priority plan, and preservation needs assessment. The team will rehouse materials in archival-quality enclosures, complete catalog records and digitization, and publish more than 20,000 images and related photojournalism materials online for learning by the public and use by the museum.
