McKissick Museum, University of South Carolina

The McKissick Museum, University of South Carolina, will implement the “Vibrant Visions” project to improve the management and accessibility of a recently acquired collection of 538 fine arts objects. The museum will hire and train four paid student assistants who will work with a project manager to process the collection of art by African American and Latino artists working throughout the 20th century to today. The project team will fully catalog, photograph, and upload 1,500–2,000 digital images to an online collections database. The project will also involve an upgrade to the museum’s content management system and the creation of an online exhibition accessible to the public. The project will allow the museum to provide better long-term care for the objects and begin planning for their use in onsite exhibitions and sharing outside the institution.
