Holocaust Museum Houston

Log Number: MA-30-13-0258-13

The Holocaust Museum Houston will partner with the University of Southern California Shoah Foundation to digitize, preserve, and provide widespread access to its collection of Holocaust testimony audio-visual recordings. Dating to as early as 1985, the recordings capture the stories of 282 Houston-area Holocaust survivors, political prisoners, liberators, and witnesses, providing invaluable information for study and understanding of Holocaust and Houston history, immigration, race and ethnicity, cultural studies, geography, religion, and memory. The master tapes are in danger of degradation and data loss. The museum will preserve the testimonies through digitization and a perpetual copying system. The museum will catalog and index each history for minute-by-minute searchability and provide free web access to the recordings for scholars, researchers, teachers, students, and the public.
