Log Number: MA-30-17-0400-17

The Davison Art Center (DAC) at Wesleyan University will continue its momentum in rapidly digitizing its collections, consisting mostly of works on paper. During three 6-week summer periods, the museum will convert its gallery space into a temporary studio to execute high-quality, rapid digital photography of key parts of its holdings, prepare 4,000 new images for collection management and educational access, and place as many as possible online for public use as DAC Open Access Images. Before each summer, and with an aim of providing early-career experience for qualified emerging museum professionals, the full-time staff project director will hire five temporary staff to create a team of six-a project photographer, two project imaging specialists, and two student assistants-who will work together to create and prepare the digital images, which will be used extensively for teaching and study.
