Fort Lewis College (Center of Southwest Studies, Fort Lewis College)

The Center of Southwest Studies will inventory, catalog, digitally photograph, and rehouse a portion of its fine art collection of paintings and works on paper as a first step toward making the collection accessible via the web and planning for future storage upgrades. The project will be the first in a series of preservation projects in response to recommendations made in previous conservation surveys. Project activities will include the review and enhancement of records and the rehousing of 20 percent of the fine art collection. A procedures manual will be created that will train and guide staff and students to continue working with this collection and adapt procedures to other collection areas. The project will result in catalog records, digital images, and metadata that are accurate, searchable, and discoverable online.
