Hill-Stead Museum will engage conservation specialists to perform a general conservation survey of its decorative arts collection and two detailed conservation surveys of furniture and textile items which are in need of stabilization. The general conservation survey will provide recommendations to prioritize short-term treatment goals and lay the groundwork for a long-range preservation plan for the entire collection, 85 percent of which is on permanent display. The project will assist the museum in preparing items for eventual display in a changing exhibition gallery slated for completion in 5-7 years, and will aid patrons, researchers, and scholars who use the museum's collections.
