History Colorado

Log Number: MG-250463-OMS-21

History Colorado will lead a collaborative effort to expand the Museums for Digital Learning (MDL) platform, an online resource providing K-12 educators and students with access to digitized collections and educational resources for use in and outside the classroom. The content is searchable by curriculum standards, grade level, and subject matter. History Colorado, in partnership with the Field Museum and Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields will recruit additional museums to provide content in the form of Resource Kits that include activities such as narratives, slideshows, timelines, hotspots, games, and annotation activities, as well as ebooks. The partners will work with K-12 Teacher Ambassadors to raise awareness and use of MDL by the K-12 educator community. The project team will also investigate business models to support the platform's longer-term sustainability.
Amendment 2022: $194,909 in additional funds were awarded in 2022 to support the project team's continued work to onboard additional museums and increase content, increase adoption by K-12 educators, maintain and optimize the MDL platform, evaluate the platform's usability and impact, and develop a sustainability plan.
Amendment 2023: $230,000 in additional funds were awarded in 2023 to increase content by providing increased support to participating museums, use Teacher Ambassadors to review resources, maintain and improve the site, and evaluate use by participating museums and K-12 teachers.
