African American Diversity Cultural Center Hawaii will create a lecture series and exhibition to showcase the early pioneers of African descent and the contributions they made to shape the quality of life of the people living in Hawaii during the 19th century. The lecture series and exhibition will introduce students, teachers, and community leaders to key Africana people and demonstrate how several of these individuals interacted with the Kingdom of Hawaii and its people to broaden cultural understanding and interconnectedness. This project will help to foster dialogue and enhance collaboration with local school systems and area cultural organizations.
