Queens Public Library (Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center)

Log Number: MH-252552-OMS-22

The Queens Public Library will partner with museums and other organizations to celebrate and document 50 years of Hip Hop and its role in American culture. Through its Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center branch, the library will coordinate the presentation of in-person and streaming educational hip hop programming around the country; hold a two-day summit to explore the history of hip hop; and create a digital archive of each institution’s programs, which will serve as lessons and learning tools for educators on the impact that hip hop has had on Black culture and American life. An FY 2023 amendment supports the participation of an additional 22 museums, libraries, and colleges/universities in the nationwide network contributing materials to the digital archive and expands capacity for the summit event.
