Plano African American Museum

The Plano African American Museum will build capacity at the Thornton House to enhance interpretive programs and improve the visitor experience. Project activities include the restoration of a well to add to the authentic experience of visitors in understanding African American life as experienced in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The second activity is the design and installation of an interpretative exterior sign that shares information about the history of the house and includes pictures. This project will also include the introduction of summer programs for children and enhancements to public programming and special events.
