Buffalo Soldiers National Museum

Log Number: MH-258332-OMS-25

The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum (BSNM) will implement a living history program highlighting the legacy of African American soldiers, particularly the United States Colored Troops (USCT) and Buffalo Soldiers. The program will feature reenactors across eras from the Civil War through Vietnam, offering interactive reenactments, artistic installations, and educational activities. BSNM will hire a full-time, grant-funded Collections Specialist to manage the care and exhibition of artifacts associated with this initiative and a Living History Coordinator will be hired to manage educational programming during the three-year grant period. The project aims to deepen public understanding of African American military history and foster the development of African American museum professionals through mentorship, training, and hands-on experience.
