Houston Freedmen's Town Conservancy

The Houston Freedmen's Town Conservancy (HFTC) will increase operational capacity by hiring new staff and engaging in program development, community partnerships, and sustainability planning. Key staff positions funded by the project will drive program delivery, visitor engagement, and strategic partnerships. HFTC will develop partnerships with local schools, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and cultural organizations to co-create educational programs that highlight African American history and culture. HFTC will also engage an emergency preparedness consultant to develop a comprehensive resilience plan, helping protect Freedmen’s Town’s cultural assets.
