Log Number: MH-258585-OMS-25
Tangipahoa African American Heritage Museum & Veterans Archives will build capacity by hiring dedicated staff to manage partnership, internships, and collections care all with a focus on enhancing collections accessibility by digitizing culturally significant artifacts and making them accessible online. The project will digitize 80-100 artifacts, creating an online database for educators, researchers, and cultural practitioners, fostering learning, scholarship, and outreach. Staff and interns will receive training in collections management, digital preservation, and community outreach. A digitization specialist will oversee technical processes, while outreach activities will promote digitized collections through workshops and partnerships with schools, HBCUs, and cultural organizations. The project results will include an increase in public engagement by 30%, the training of 6 to 8 interns, and strengthened partnerships that expand educational programming.
