Louis Armstrong House Museum

The Louis Armstrong House Museum will produce a series of screenings and panel discussions at their museum, and at venues in other cities that are central to Armstrong’s life story to illuminate the significance of his impact on film and television. Project activities include finalizing a selection of feature films, television broadcasts, and archival footage, securing licensing and high-resolution digital transfers for public screening, launching the series at the museum with associated programming, and facilitating screenings in at least two venues outside of New York City. The project involves reviewing a vast trove of video footage and audio recordings, including from the museum’s own extensive archive, that depict Armstrong at pivotal moments in the evolution of our nation’s culture, and his discussions about the process behind the scenes. The outcome of project activities will be an expanded capacity for the museum to deliver complex, media-rich public programs.
