Bishop State Community College

Log Number: MH-260616-OMS-26

The Bishop State Community College will develop policies and procedures to implement the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the stories, artifacts, and cultural materials that document the college’s historic contributions. Project activities include establishing a project advisory group to develop digitization, metadata, rights/permissions, and collections intake policies and set ethical oral history protocols. The project will support hiring three paid student workers focusing on archiving, digitization, and museum operations, and training them in artifact handling, scanning, metadata, interviewing, accessibility, and quality control. Project results include a plan for a digital asset management system with public access; policies and procedures for sustainable digitization workflows; and an implementation plan for oral histories and artifact intake with alumni, retired faculty, and community leaders. The outcome of project activities will be a sustainable, accessible archive that aims to preserve, collect, research, interpret, and exhibit the material and cultural objects that reflect the rich history and enduring legacy of the college.
