University of Massachusettts, Lowell (Tsongas Industrial History Center)

Purpose: Expanding Educational Services The University of Massachusetts Lowell Tsongas Industrial History Center and its partner, Lowell National Historical Park, will use this grant to expand educational services to the Merrimack Watershed schools though existing hand-on programs about surface and groundwater and through after-school and community service learning programs. The hands-on program will be extended to 2,500 additional students and will bring them and their teachers in contact with university faculty and their research. The afterschool and community service learning programs serve at least 500 students and generate thousand of hours of community services. The grant will also be used to establish an educational alliance, with staff support, communication technology, office space, access to computers, and other services.
