Barona Band of Mission Indians

Log Number: MN-00-15-0018-15

The Barona Cultural Center and Museum will replace aging and insufficient cabinetry and shelving with new archival quality cabinets to ensure the preservation, security, and accessibility of their archival and research collections. Rehousing efforts will protect rare cultural heritage materials and unique academic resources that preserve the life ways of the Kumeyaay/Diegueno people. Books, periodicals, genealogical resources, oral history recordings, and transcripts from Barona elders will be rehoused, as well as and maps and photographs dating back to the late 19th century. By providing a secure, preservation-friendly environment for these collections, the museum will safeguard the tribe's rich cultural history and allow long-term access by tribal members, researchers, and the public.
