Iowa Tribe of Kansas & Nebraska

The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska will address challenges it faces in operating its newly opened Iowa and Sac & Fox Mission Museum, namely, lack of access to artifacts related to the mission and Tribe’s history. The project team will identify and document culturally significant items and artwork held by non-Tribal entities and partner with those entities to photograph and digitize those items. Museum staff will also participate in training and purchase necessary collections management software and equipment, building the Tribe’s capacity to provide professional museum services. The resulting virtual repository will benefit Tribal members, students, educators, and researchers by providing greater access to Iowa and Sac & Fox historical information and material culture.
