Log Number: MN-253304-OMS-23

The Choctaw Cultural Center will preserve collections and perpetuate traditional cultural practices by recreating at-risk textiles and providing programming for community members to learn about Choctaw textile practices. The center will collaborate with Choctaw traditional artisans, who will create 10 to 15 duplicate textile items to be used for display rotation, helping to combat deterioration and strain on textiles featured in the center’s permanent exhibit. The center will also expand upon its current public programming by offering masterclass opportunities with the artisans and additional educational seminars and demonstrations for Tribal members, students, teachers, and the community. As a result, community members will be more knowledgeable about traditional Choctaw textiles and the lives of current collection items will be extended for continued display.
