Log Number: MN-259645-OMS-26
The Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes’ Cultural Preservation Department will implement a two-year initiative to strengthen museum and archival capacity and preserve Assiniboine and Sioux cultural knowledge. Project activities include cataloguing items, digitizing historical photographs and archival documents, establishing a centralized digital archive repository, and rehousing collections using archival-quality materials. The project will also engage tribal youth and emerging professionals by offering a Junior Curator Academy and Junior Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) Academy, and a 10-week summer internship program to provide hands-on training in cataloging, digitization, and collections care. Project results will include a centralized digital inventory of tribal collections and archival materials and a youth training curriculum.
