Shawnee Tribe

The Shawnee Tribe will engage a Shawnee Language Educational Curriculum Consultant and a Shawnee Language Education Materials Artist to expand on prior language preservation efforts by transforming digitally preserved Shawnee language resources into engaging, family-centered learning materials. The project will support the development of two children’s books, a Shawnee songbook, and early childhood language activity kits designed to help parents introduce Shawnee words and songs in everyday home settings. Additional project materials will be available through the Shawnee Tribe Cultural Center and Museum so visitors and community members can see, use, and learn from the resources. The result of this project will be increased access to Shawnee language learning materials and intergenerational language use within Shawnee homes.
