Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians

Log Number: NAB-250319-OLS-21

The Qualla Boundary Public Library provides the enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, residents of the Qualla Boundary, and the surrounding Swain and Jackson Counties in North Carolina with access to resources for their educational, informational, and recreational needs. In response to requests from elders, the library will expand its collection of large- print books and continue delivering them to the community. To improve literacy among children in grades K–3, they plan to replace outdated materials in the children’s section of the library with age-appropriate reading materials. They also will curate three Little Free Libraries across the reservation to provide the community easy access to quality materials. Library staff will enhance skills by attending the annual conference of the Association of Tribal Archives, Libraries, and Museums.
