Keweenaw Bay Indian Community
Log Number: NAE-260899-OLS-26
The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community aims to strengthen cultural connections within their community through preserving and revitalizing Ojibwe culture and language programming at the Ojibwa Community Library. The library will create a “micro-museum” space to display physical artifacts and printed and recorded stories. The project funds will also support outreach to elders, families, and artists willing to share stories for cataloging, recording, physical display and digital preservation. Project funds will support Ojibwe artist talks and hands-on cultural learning activities including traditional storytelling and traditional art creation. Remote library book houses will be enhanced with culturally relevant materials and activity kits. The project will provide direct benefit to the over 3,000 Tribal citizens within its project service area.
